Data
Mobility is about flexibility, whether this is working
from home when the motorway is blocked or the trains
are on strike, accessing documents from a customers
premises, or getting things done between sales appointments.
It's good to have secure access to your data when your
out and about. Small Business Server 2003 gives you
a number of options that allow you to work from anywhere.
Solving Problems
Accessing
Data on the move, or from home
- Firstly let's look at Outlook. Small Business Server
2003 gives you centralised access to your email, calendar,
contacts, tasks etc through Outlook which comes with
SBS03 and also is a key component of Office. You can
synchronise you data to a laptop as you leave the office,
or a Pocket PC device.
However you have other options to get access to this
data.
Small Business Server 2003 can also send this data
to an internet browser (E.G. Internet Explorer) which
means you can access your Outlook inbox from any computer
with an internet connection. Using technology called
Outlook Web Access, Small Business Server 2003 can
send your data to any browser, any where. So you could
be in an Internet café or at a customer site,
or working from your home PC, simply by using a browser
you can access your data.
More and more people are using smart phones and pocket
PCs. Small Business Server also includes the technology
to enable you to sync up your email, calendar etc
onto these devices. Think of the occasions when you've
been stuck on a train when you could have been checking
your email. Now you can with SBS03 and the wide range
of Windows powered devices that are out in the market.
