Given the amount of junk mail you probably recieve the last thing you need is to have your email inbox overflowing with even more junk email....especially when it can be disturbing in content. Small Business Server 2003 has been designed to help manage you inbox effectively and reduce wherever possible the amount of junk mail you recieve.

Solving Problems
Spam
- Small Business Server 2003 includes Exchange Server 2003 which is Microsoft’s widely used messaging and collaboration server. There are a number of technologies included in Exchange Server to reduce the amount of unwanted mail received and also control the usage of email inside your organisation.

Distribution lists - you can restrict the sending of email to distribution lists to certain authenticated users, or specify which users can or cannot send mail to individual distribution lists. In other words, only allow certain people to email groups you create (e.g. the whole business, clients). This will reduce the risk of nuisance or damaging email being sent either within your company or to external clients.

Support of real-time Safe and Block lists - reduce the amount of unsolicited mail delivered to your organization with connection filtering. Checks can be made on incoming emails. Suspected junk mail can be filtered out and sent either to the delete folder or to the junk mail folder where you can check it.

Inbound recipient filtering - reduce unsolicited e-mail messages by filtering inbound messages based on the recipient. Messages that are addressed to users that are not found, or to whom the sender does not have the permissions to send, are rejected. This applies only to messages sent by anonymously authenticated users.

Privacy protection in Outlook and Outlook Web Access - by default, content from outside your network is blocked in Outlook 2003 and Outlook Web Access. This feature helps prevent spammers from identifying valid e-mail addresses through links to external content. You can, however, override this feature to view external content.

By using the features included in Small Business Server, alongside an anti-virus program, you will be able to
protect yourself from the majority of junk email and remove infected email before it reaches users who could
open it and infect your systems.
