As
companies start to grow, verbal communication is no
longer the most effective way of communicating. Customer
information needs to be held centrally so anyone who
answers the phone can get easy access to that data,
and have a place to record the conversation. Small Business
Server 2003 enables your team to accomplish more, with
data stored centrally less time is wasted searching
for documents and duplication can be taken out of you
internal processes.
Solving Problems
Team
Work - You need a system
that allows you to share important documents with existing
and new employees, such as health and safety documents,
you need to know that your employees have received and
read those documents.
Sales teams need to access to the latest documents,
so when they are quoting for goods you know they are
quoting the correct prices and teams need to be able
access each other diaries, do that booking meetings
and holidays is as easy and fast as possible.
These are common problems and can be addressed easily
with Windows Small Business Server.
Windows Sharepoint Team Services is available as
part of SBS03 and it's a very easy to use "out
of the box"
intranet solution that enables you and your employees
to share and collaborate with your company data.
You can use this to post important Health and Safety
documents. In some cases it's a legal requirement
that employees have access to the latest versions
of these docs. With Sharepoint you can post them to
one central area where everyone can get access. Likewise
you can create surveys to ensure that the docs are
read if they are compulsory. This way employees can
"sign" to say they've read the docs.
Managing holidays and ensuring staff cover can be
a nightmare. With Sharepoint you have a central calendar
where employees can request holidays. With the built-in
automation you can be automatically notified of any
requests made - allowing you to approve or reject
request where appropriate.
Users can also work on the same documents, great
if you're creating for example a company brochure
where a number of people can input. Employees can
also subscribe to documents which means that they'll
be alerted when changes are made, great for company
policies.
